Ethereum is for AI: ERC-8004 Is Now Live

Ethereum continues to expand its role in the technology landscape, not only as a smart contract platform but also as a trust layer for artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, a new standard called ERC-8004 was officially launched on the Ethereum mainnet, designed specifically to support autonomous AI agents so they can interact directly on the blockchain without intermediaries. This standard introduces new mechanisms that allow AI agents not only to communicate, but also to build publicly verifiable and reliable reputations.

Unlike previous token standards such as ERC-20 and ERC-721, ERC-8004 focuses on identity, reputation, and validation for AI agents within the Ethereum network. Through three core registries, AI agents can record who they are, what actions they have taken, and how they have interacted with other systems in a secure and transparent way. This enables each agent to maintain a portable digital identity that can be verified by other applications across Ethereum or compatible platforms.

The implementation of this standard opens new opportunities for collaboration between AI agents from different organizations and ecosystems. Instead of relying on centralized services to manage trust and reputation, ERC-8004 allows decentralized systems to record and share reputation data consistently across the network. This approach is expected to accelerate broader AI adoption in automated economic activities, including transactions, intelligent services, and cross-application collaboration without third-party intervention.

With the launch of ERC-8004, Ethereum is increasingly positioned as a neutral foundational layer for decentralized AI ecosystems. Beyond storing value and data, Ethereum now extends its role into enabling trust for AI agents at a global scale.
