The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has announced a major organizational restructuring as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem. After several months of internal evaluation, the foundation has adopted a leaner organizational model with a clearer focus on the areas considered most critical to Ethereum’s future.
Under the new structure, the Ethereum Foundation is organized into five primary divisions: Protocol Layer, Access Layer, User Layer, Community Layer, and Institutional Layer. These are supported by dedicated operations and management teams, with each division assigned specific responsibilities to improve efficiency and accelerate the development of Ethereum.
As part of the restructuring, the Ethereum Foundation has reduced its workforce by approximately 20%, affecting 54 employees. The organization emphasized that the decision was made to better align its resources with long-term priorities rather than respond to short-term market conditions. Employees impacted by the changes will receive severance packages and transition support to help them move into new opportunities.
Looking ahead, the Ethereum Foundation aims to become a more focused and efficient organization, prioritizing improvements to Ethereum’s core technology, including privacy, security, censorship resistance, and broader adoption across industries.
