Google has unveiled major updates to Google TV powered by Gemini AI, aiming to transform television from a passive entertainment device into an intelligent, interactive hub. With Gemini integrated directly into the TV experience, users can ask questions, search for content, and explore topics using natural language, while receiving rich, visual answers that include images, videos, and real-time information displayed on the big screen.

One of the standout capabilities is Gemini’s Deep Dives feature, which helps users understand complex topics through clear, conversational explanations. Gemini also integrates seamlessly with Google Photos, allowing users to search their personal photo library using voice descriptions and instantly turn memories into cinematic slideshows or creative visual presentations on their TV.

Beyond content discovery, Gemini improves everyday viewing comfort by simplifying TV settings. Instead of navigating menus, users can say things like “the screen is too dark” or “the dialogue isn’t clear,” and Gemini will automatically adjust picture and sound settings. This hands-free approach makes the experience more fluid and keeps viewers focused on what they’re watching.

These Gemini-powered features will roll out first on select TCL Google TV models running Android TV OS 14 or newer, requiring an active Google account and internet connection. Google plans to expand availability to more devices and regions over time, reinforcing its vision of Google TV as an AI-driven centerpiece for the modern living room.
