Binance Charity, the blockchain-powered philanthropic arm of Binance, has announced a $245,000 relief initiative to support communities affected by severe floods and landslides across several regions in Sumatra, Indonesia. The initiative aims to assist thousands of families who have lost homes, livelihoods, and access to basic necessities due to the natural disaster.
The floods and landslides, which began in late November, impacted areas including Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, causing widespread infrastructure damage and mass displacement. In response, Binance Charity partnered with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to ensure that emergency aid reaches the most vulnerable communities quickly and efficiently.
A significant portion of the funds is being allocated to essential relief supplies such as food, clean water, blankets, and emergency equipment distributed through PMI. In addition, Binance Charity is providing direct financial assistance via BNB airdrops to eligible Binance users located in the affected regions, allowing recipients to receive support rapidly and transparently through their Binance wallets.
This initiative highlights Binance Charity’s ongoing commitment to leveraging blockchain technology for social good. By combining transparent crypto-based aid with trusted local partnerships, Binance Charity continues to demonstrate how digital assets can play a meaningful role in humanitarian relief and community recovery efforts worldwide.
